The Prince Edward Island Real Estate Association (PEIREA) was incorporated in 1964 under the name of the PEI Real Estate Brokers Association. In 1975, the name of the organization was changed to the PEI Real Estate Association.
The Association is governed by a Board of Directors which consists of twelve REALTORS® and the Association’s Executive Officer.
The Association’s office is located at 75 St. Peters Road in Charlottetown. For complete contact information, please see the “Contact Us” section of this web site.
All Members of the Association are also members in good standing of the Canadian Real Estate Association and are specifically trained to help buyers and sellers with all their real estate needs. They adhere to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and conduct their business in accordance with the Standards of Business Practice as adopted by the Canadian Real Estate Association.
The Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Practice that members of the PEI Real Estate Association follow has been the measure of professionalism in organized real estate in Canada for over 40 years. The first code was approved in 1913 at the convention of the National Association of Real Estate Boards held in Winnipeg. Over the years, the Code has been amended many times to reflect changes in the real estate marketplace, the needs of property owners and the perceptions and values of society. However, one aspect of the Code that has remained unchanged is the high standard of professional conduct it demands to protect the interests of clients and customers and safeguard the rights of consumers of real estate services.
